Bristol Ballet Centre has a clear Rules & Regulation Policy, which must always be adhered to by parents, pupils, and staff at all times.
Compliance with these rules is vital if your child wishes to join the school. Please read the following information carefully and be aware that in signing these rules you are agreeing to abide by them.
The contents of the School’s emails and letters contain confidential information which is intended only for the recipient. Any unauthorised copying, forwarding or distribution of the material is strictly prohibited. All personal information at the School is kept confidential and will not be discussed with anyone.
At Bristol Ballet Centre we have a duty of care to safeguard all pupils – please see the separate Child Protection Policy
Registration form
All pupils MUST complete a Registration Form on joining the School. This form acts as an agreement between Bristol Ballet Centre and parents / guardians. Please notify the Principal of any changes of address, contact number and email address.
Fees
Fees must be paid before / at the beginning of term. Any fees not received within the first three weeks of term will be subject to a £5.00 administration fee. Payment may be made by cash or Bank Transfer. If paying by cash, please hand the correct amount in a named envelope to your class teacher who will issue you with a receipt. Fees are non – returnable and will not be reimbursed for absence.
Uniform
Please read the uniform section on the noticeboard / website for correct requirements for each class. All uniform is available to purchase through the school and it is essential that students are dressed correctly. (Please note: if you are buying uniform elsewhere, please ensure that it is the correct RAD/ISTD regulation, as many places now sell copies which are not acceptable).
No outside clothing is allowed during class – only Bristol Ballet Centre hoodies/t-shirts or the correct crossover may be worn when it is cold. Jewellery must not be worn in class at any time (including Fitbits) apart from stud earrings that do not hang. Hair must be in a bun for all classes. Any fringes that drop below the eyebrow must be gripped back or a hair band worn.
The School highly recommends naming all items of uniform; we take no responsibility for any losses incurred on the premises.
Exams
Pupils will be entered for exams when we feel they can execute the work to a high enough level. The exam fee must be paid by the closing date on the letter you receive. Failure to return exam entry forms and fees on time will mean your child will not be entered for that session. Students are expected to attend extra coaching lessons which are compulsory. We reserve the right to withdraw any child from coaching classes or examinations due to injury, illness, or lack of practise. Refunds of the examination fee will only be given for medical reasons with a valid doctor’s note and only 50% will be returned.
Photography / videoing
By attending Bristol Ballet Centre or any classes attached to us, you agree, as parents/guardians, to the following:
In normal lessons - you permit us to use a camera and video to aid us with our teaching with the knowledge that these will be deleted at the end of each lesson.
On exam days – we will take photographs of pupils and if no objection is made, we may use these for future marketing and on social media sites
At shows – photographs and DVDs will be taken by a professional photographer and available to purchase.
During ‘Visitors’ Watching Week’ - parents can photograph or record provided everyone present agrees and nothing is posted on any social media sites.
Physical contact in class
Please be aware that due to the nature of dance teaching, some physical contact may be necessary to correct placement or demonstrate technique. In the unfortunate case of an injury occurring during or after class, no responsibility is taken by the School - but please rest assured that every care is taken to avoid such a situation. Please ensure that you inform the class teacher of any medical illnesses they may need to deal with during class time e.g. asthma, use of an epi-pen or diabetic monitoring.
Cancellations
In the event of bad weather, please check the website for information. Parents will be notified of any changes via text, email, school Facebook page or the website. If, in this instance, classes are cancelled, the school will not reimburse or replace classes. However, in all other circumstances, a replacement lesson or refund will be given.
Giving notice
Half a terms notice is required if your child decides they no longer wish to continue with any lesson, please note, this does not include holidays. Notice must be given in writing or by email to the Principal.
Attending classes elsewhere
It is not permitted to attend classes or auditions at any other dancing schools without prior permission of the Principal. Failure to do this will result in you being asked to leave the School.
Keeping up to date
All current school information is posted on the noticeboard outside the studio, including term dates, uniform and contact details. Please refer to the noticeboard frequently for any changes, additional practices, summer school / show details etc.
